Day 31 - Wed. May 28 from Ponferrada to Villafranca del Bierzo - 16 miles from 6:40 am to 12:30 with two 20 min. breaks

What an incredible day. So beautiful and challenging toward the end. The guide book said we had planned a 14 mile day but our pedometers recorded 16. This is the day in pictures. Leaving Ponferrada.

A cherry tree in front of a house. Later we passed a cherry orchard.

Lots of gardens. Corn here.

At a fuente where we could fill our water bottles.

Where is the traffic?

Tiny grapes.

An apple orchard below.

This was a beautiful blue and my camera does not do it justice.
Supposed to be on the other side of the guard rail. After a car whizzed by going 100 mph. He moved.

Does not look steep but it was a killer.

Villanfranca from a distance.

Raspberries or blackberries for future peregrinos growing wild.

Two women from our 2nd day on the Camino.

Ahhh. I soaked in the big tub for awhile.
Late Pilgrim lunch. First course he called minestrone. It was vegetables and very good.

Trout was good too.
Chocolate mousse.
St. Nicholas was locked.

7:30 pm Mass.

Altar front close up.

Incredible roses in huge Central Park.

This has been a very special day.
