We did not repeat the miles walked to Melide but we extended the taxi ride to 5 miles because we did not want to do an 18 mile day. We both wear pedometers and Brierley's guide under estimates the mileage. So we began the day at Castanaeda.
We talked and walked with a couple from Germany for quite a while and saw the professors from Fordham.
Just over the bridge we stopped for a break. I had fresh squeezed orange juice and Stoney had rocket fuel.
Lots of this kind of walking today which is nice.

We passed by this place but many were enjoying a food break.
We made it to this beautiful and peaceful place about noon.
Shared a delicious bowl of spaghetti with meat sauce for lunch. Sat on a glider and listened to the frogs for awhile and people watched. FYI it seems Spain is very energy conscious with electricity and water. Toilets have two modes of flushing. Pushing the small crescent releases a small amount of water and you get the idea for the larger crescent.
As for lighting, we have learned to pay attention to the placement of light switches in public bathrooms. They automatically turn on when you walk in and automatically turn off. We have been left in the dark on many occasions; not a pleasant experience. A few times the toilets have not had toilet seats. And we also carry some tp in a pocket. One bathroom had a sliding door. I went in, the light went out. I could not see but found the door. However I could not open it. I forgot it was a sliding door. I found the light switch and then realized the door slid open.
Had dinner with Alice from Nebraska, now living in Oxford, England. Was our second dinner together. She walked the Camino in 2001 when there was not so much available as now. Really enjoy her company. She is married 42 yrs) to a writer and she is a publisher.
