Day 36 - Mon., June 2 from Portomarin to Palas de Rei - 15.4 miles

The hotel breakfast buffet opened at 7 am and 10 pilgrims were ready and waiting. I must say the coffee was the best yet. I put a little coffee in my cup and hot milk in the rest and skipped the sugar.
The morning was overcast and foggy but fairly warm. Here are some pics of our day.
A hermitage.

We were not far from the road most of the day but we had some beautiful trees and farm land to walk near.

Stopped for refreshment after a couple of hours. This cute little kitten was scampering around. I wanted to pick him up and take him with me.
The caffeine in the coffee energizes me and so we walked on. Thedoorbellin thepicbelow for the cafe/pensione.

Saw some cows nursing.

Below was the site of a place for pilgrims to stay eons ago. Check the size if the tree.
A woman offered to take our pic together as she passed by and saw us taking solo pics.

It is a bit warmer now and we can wear short sleeve shirts.
Growing on a old rock wall.
Of course we walked by the church coming into town. Stopped in for a short prayer.

Found our bed for the night. Sat on our little balcony for a sandwich of salami and cheese, chips and cherries.

There is not much to this place but we walked around to see what we could see. I have never seen this flowering bush. It is on the Camino leaving town.

Pics from around town.

Went to little grocery to buy an cream cone and saw a woman walking carrying a canary in a bird cage. Thought she was a local resident and it was a little strange.

Went to bed early as usual.

  1. FWIW, the plant is Callistemon--a plant native to Australia.

    1. Thanks, I love flowers and appreciate the info. We've never been to Australia but I'd like to visit one day.
